DUAL CHANNEL GERMANIUM MIC PREAMP

Bring the sounds of rock n’ roll to your studio with the AMPTEK AT-31/2 Dual Channel Germanium Preamplifier. Rooted in solid state recording technology’s coming of age during the late 50s, the AT-31/2 boasts a completely vintage signal path consisting of NOS transistors including RCA Germanium, Sprague and Raytheon silicon, 1960s UTC input transformers and rotating pairs of vintage output transformers. Extreme attention to detail was taken to provide users with an authentically New-Old-School experience – a straightforward, high quality vintage analog preamp that organically brings sources to life.
Originally designed by RCA as a fixed gain preamp, gain control is implemented through altering the amount of negative feedback present in the circuit, creating a much more flexible and powerful studio piece. Increasing the gain through negative feedback reduction allows users you to drive the transistors and output transformer harder for additional coloration while forming rich harmonic content, while output control is implemented post output transformer allowing users to drive signals hotter without overloading the next unit in a signal chain.
